Traditional Mediterranean eating habits center around foods that are high in fats, yet people who live in this area have relatively low incidences of heart disease. The Mediterranean diet is based on fruit, vegetables, cereals, fish, and olive oil. The diet also prescribes the moderate consumption of wine.
