Diverticulitis & Sonoma Diet Foods

Diverticulitis is a health condition that occurs when small pouches in the colon (diverticula) become infected or irritated from which fact is understandable why seeds and nuts are not advised for this diagnosis. However, it's not the fibers that makes tomatoes, blueberries, nuts, and the such a "no-no" when one has diverticulitis but the shape and size of the particles after you chow on these foods. The problem can be solved the two ways: juicing and blending/sifting. If you choose to squeeze these foods for juice, make sure you have not only the clear liquid but also the soft pulp because fiber is good for people with diverticulitis. Another way is to blend, then to pass the food through a mesh sifter, pressing the pulp hard to rub it upon the mesh. This leaves you the most nutritious part or tomatoes and berries without the bad for you tiny hard particles. Nuts can be processed in a coffee grinder to make flour, then used in baked dishes, desserts, or nut butters.
