How does the Slim-Fast Optima Diet work?

Slim-Fast Optima Diet Offers More Options

The latest addition to the Slim-Fast family of weight loss aids is the Slim-Fast Optima Diet. Unilever, the parent company that owns Slim-Fast, claims that the new Optima plan will help keep you satisfied so that you are more likely to stick to your diet and lose weight.

The four elements to ensure weight-loss success on the Optima plan are as follows:

  1. A personalized, balanced meal plan that combines Slim-Fast products with foods that you prepare yourself.
  2. Regular physical activity (although Slim-Fast isn't too specific about how much exercise or what type).
  3. Expert support and weight loss advice. The Slim-Fast website and online diet plan materials offer a variety of dieting tips and advice similar to the advice found on other dieting support sites. The plan claims to adhere to healthy eating principles endorsed by the American Heart Association, American Dietetic Association, and the National Institutes of Health, with an emphasis on healthy fats, lean proteins, and complex carbs.
  4. Tools to track progress. The Slim-Fast Optima Diet designers believe that being able to log your eating and exercise habits will let you track your success and provide motivation.
All the Slim-Fast diet plans call for replacing breakfast and lunch with a Slim-Fast product, and then eating a healthy but low-calorie dinner. The plan does advocate low-calorie snacks, specifically fruit such as apples and bananas, and of course the Slim-Fast snack bars.

If you have more money than time and you are trying to lose weight quickly, Slim-Fast may provide a reasonably healthy short-term option.
